The weapons include a long-range shooter with a wide spread, a twister gun, and a beam made of bullets that can ricochet. The rest of the new gear needs to be purchased at the Porkrind Emporium for varying fees. There are three new charms and three shooters, but the first charm is automatically unlocked to make Ms. Purchasing the new items can increase the chances of winning boss fights and even lead to solving a tombstone puzzle in Cuphead: DLC that leads to an exciting secret. Unlike the other islands, there are no runs to earn coins, but the parrying challenges have replaced those levels as a way to earn more money for new weapons and charms. The challenges issued by the King of Games give an additional five mini-bosses to face with the alternative fighting method of only dealing damage by parrying. There are hidden coins, parrying challenges, and some hidden paths to find. The main bosses are only part of the added content on Island IV. The fast-paced battles stay true to the base game's content but expand upon the fighting mechanics and present, on average, much more difficult battles than what's included on the original islands. The expansion even brings back unique mechanics, like the aerial Esther Winchester boss fight in Cuphead: DLC. The main bosses all have at least three phases, and each one calls for different tactics or alternative weapons. The six main boss fights on Island IV all feel completely different, and the fights will likely require multiple attempts before the bosses can be knocked out.
